2024 ACFW Genesis & Carol Award Winners
American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) held their annual conference September 4-7 in New Orleans. I wasn’t able to attend this year because our church’s twenty-fifth anniversary was the same weekend. (Click here if you’re interested in watching our eight-minute celebration video highlighting the past twenty-five years at Sonlight Church).
Back in the spring, I found out I was a double semi-finalist in the Genesis Awards, which is ACFW’s contest for unpublished fiction writers. Finalists were announced at the conference on Thursday evening during the Milestones Dinner, and several friends in attendance texted to let me know I was a finalist. Super exciting!
As a finalist, I wish I could’ve been there in person, but I was thankful they provided a live stream to watch the awards ceremony during the gala banquet Saturday night. To say I was shocked when they called my name as the winner is an understatement! Such a cool, fun moment, even if I was in my bedroom by myself.
I immediately received texts and messages from friends who were there, sending their congratulations. I’m so grateful to my critique partner, Paula Peckham, for recording the moment. Check out the video if you’d like to see the announcement.
Sure, it’s fun to win, but it’s also a joy to celebrate others, so this post is focused on tooting a horn for every Genesis contest winner, as well as the amazing published authors who won the Carol Award in their category.
