Alyssa Schwarz: Spotlight on A Midsummer Romance & a Giveaway

I recently had the opportunity to partner with six amazing women to write a multi-author series together, Summer in Wild Rose Ridge. They’d already worked together in the past, and I was the young newbie who felt way in over her head but was so incredibly welcomed into their group. The weekly Zoom calls and daily prayer huddle filled my soul. We got to chat about our characters’ lives and build better stories. We designed posters for all the events in our made up small town, making it feel like a real place. And we’ve cheered each other on through seasons of difficulty and seasons of celebration.

That’s exactly the kind of community connection my characters Caleb and Jess rediscovered when they moved back to their hometown of Wild Rose Ridge for the summer. Used to living life on their own, they had no intentions of putting down roots until they realized how much better life was when shared. Even if it took some meddling mothers, a staged kiss, and some Shakespearian romance to make it happen.

For those new to Wild Rose Ridge, it’s a fictional resort community surrounding a rose shaped lake with vineyards, orchards, and a monster legend. Inspired by the Chelan area in Washington State, this fictional town is brimming with quirky charm and a cast of characters to go with it! From spring festivals beginning with the first bloom of their famous wild roses, to town plays, lake cruises, festive holiday traditions, and the infamous group of meddling mothers bent on matching up every last single man and woman in town… there’s something for every reader to enjoy.

This town and its residents came alive during those Zoom chats, and I hope readers will love getting to know them as much as I have!

Two friends.

One play.

And a town of meddling mothers…

When wedding planner Jess Daniels’s personal and professional life implodes on the shores of Nantucket, Wild Rose Ridge is a perfect escape. But a flood in her aunt and uncle’s basement lands her unexpectedly at the Yellow Rose B&B— a few doors down from her childhood friend’s extremely attractive brother. She’s sworn off love and all entanglements. Her heart just needs to listen.

Professor Caleb Weaver thought leaving the big city university for a teaching position in his hometown would be easy. But between helping his parents with the B&B and getting roped into the town’s community play, he has no time to himself. But when Jess is also pulled in, the late nights and weekend rehearsals don’t sound so bad.

Real life begins to mirror Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream a little too much when they are strategically cast as the main couple. Worse, when a last-minute actor is invited to the stage. Can Caleb convince Jess to take a chance on him, or will the course of true love end in tragedy?

With a touch of summer magic, anything can happen.
