Spotlight on Katie Powner & a Giveaway
I’m so happy to shine a spotlight on one of my favorite authors this week, Katie Powner. I love Katie’s novels and was privileged to meet her in person at the ACFW National Conference in September 2025. I’m thrilled to have Katie’s endorsement for my debut novel!

I love the quirky, interesting, and lovable characters Katie adds to her stories, including a potbellied pig named Pearl in The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass (You can find some cool info Katie learned during her pig research HERE) and eccentric and outspoken Eunice Parker in Where the Blue Sky Begins.

I’m really excited about the two books Katie has coming out this year, especially Birds on a Wire. Katie is a wonderful advocate for children, and Birds on a Wire is a story straight from her heart inspired by her experience as a foster parent. As a former Court-appointed Special Advocate for foster children myself, I can’t wait to read this one!
The Second Chance Trailer Park is Katie’s first release in the general market (as opposed to the Christian Fiction market). However, the only difference in content compared to her previous stories is that the faith elements are more subtle. Katie hopes this story will shine a little light and bring a little hope to the general market.

I’ve read all of her published novels and they are all fantastic! I would definitely encourage anyone to read them because she’s such a gifted author. I am looking forward to Birds on a Wire and The Second Chance Trailer Park. I was glad to get some more info on The Second Chance Trailer Park, because I wasn’t aware that it was general market. I have no doubt that I will love both of them! (No entry, I’ve read everything that she’s published).
