Hannah Linder: Regency, Romance, and Suspense, Oh My!

I’m excited to introduce you to Regency Romantic Suspense author Hannah Linder! I think you’ll enjoy learning more about her and her new release, Beneath His Silence. She’s graciously offered a paperback as a giveaway, so be sure to comment below by November 15 for a chance to win!

Welcome to the blog, Hannah! Let’s start off learning about how and when you started writing.Β

I was twelve years old when I was standing in the kitchen with my mom and she mentioned that my cousin Bethany was currently writing a novel. β€œI think I’ll do that,” I said backβ€”and as soon as I started my first book, I couldn’t stop. I was hooked for life.

Sounds like you’re a go-getter! What genre do you write, and what inspired you to write that particular genre?Β

I write Regency Romantic Suspenseβ€”and all the blame goes to Mr. Darcy for capturing my heart as he walked through the foggy field, his cape blowing in the wind. I never quite recovered from that scene in Pride and Prejudice.

(Big sigh) If you wrote in a different genre than your current one, which would you choose and why?Β

Hands down, it would be western! I grew up watching all the old western movies and shows and they’re still my absolute favorite TV. Before I wrote Regency, most of my books were western. I still miss writing in that time period sometimes!

Gotta love a good Western! Do you have any pets? Do they find their way into any of your stories?

I have a cat named Mr. John Effie, who I found starving in the woods one day close to my house. He keeps me entertained and spends hours curled on my lap, but so far, he’s never made it to one of my books.

Do you have any hobbies? What do you do for fun?

Yes, I have many hobbies! Here are a few things I do for fun:

  • Walking in the rain
  • Playing instruments (guitar, ukulele, and piano)
  • Painting still life or scenery
  • Photographing self-portraits of historical/vintage fashion
  • Writing poetry
  • Sitting in the rocking chair on my front porch
  • Listening to old records
  • Watching ’40s and ’50s black-and-white movies

You have so many amazing talents! What do you enjoy most about being a writer?

I want to say the ecstasy of reaching for a dream and watching it come true. Or the incredible, encouraging people God has placed in my path. Or the fascination of knowing readers will soon be entering a world I’ve built. But I have to say, my favorite part of being a writer is simply writing. I’ll never get over the awesomeness of penning books.

What advice would you give an aspiring author?

Write and write often.

What is one of your favorite quotes fromΒ Beneath His Silence?

β€œI cannot believe in God when such terrible events have befallen me.”

β€œI did not believe in God until they did.”

Wow, that’s deep. Love it! What do you hope your readers take away fromΒ Beneath His Silence?

That unforgiveness will wrap itself around us, like a cold clasp, until it hinders our ability to trust, love, and cherish in relationships as we should. The only way to break free of that clasp is to forgive.

A great takeaway for all of us. Do you enjoy marketing and social media? Which platform are you most active on?Β

Absolutely! I love interacting with friends and followers, and I’m so grateful to have found my tribe of book-obsessing, Jesus-loving, Regency fans. Instagram is my favorite platform.

What’s next from you?

Up next is When Tomorrow Came, a Regency Romantic Suspense novel releasing with Barbour this coming April.

Thanks so much for sharing about your writing journey with us, Hannah! I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Will Seeking Justice Lead to Her Own Demise?
Β Β
Second daughter of a baronβ€”and a little on the mischievous sideβ€”Ella Pemberton is no governess. But the pretense is a necessity if she ever wishes to get inside of Wyckhorn Manor and attain the truth. Exposing the man who killed her sister is all that matters.
Β
Lord Sedgewick knows there’s blood on his hands. Lies have been conceived, then more lies, but the price of truth would be too great. All he has left now is his sonβ€”and his hatred. Yet as the charming governess invades his home, his safe cocoon of bitterness begins to tear away.
Β
Could Ella, despite the lingering questions of his guilt, fall in love with such a man? Or is she falling prey to himβ€”just as her dead sister?
