The last official act of the prophet of Yahweh was to secretly anoint a replacement for the king of Israel who has been brought low by an unbalanced mind. The great prophet of Israel lives in fear of the wrath of the king. Then out of the hills of Bethlehem emerges the last-born son of a family of shepherds to become the unforeseen hero of Israel.

When David sings of the glory of Yahweh, this shepherd wins the hearts of the royal family and restores King Saul’s troubled mind. But when the singer/shepherd defeats the champion of the Philistines in single combat, David becomes forever known as “the giant-slayer.” Saul quickly sees that David is now a threat to his kingdom and secretly plots to have him killed.

David may be the champion of the people of Israel, but he must live under the constant threat of Saul’s wrath until he is finally forced to flee for his life.

The Singer of Israel is a tale of triumph and tribulation, deepest love and burning rivalries: the new epoch is given a voice…and it is The Song of Prophets and Kings.

Henry O. Arnold co-authored the novel Hometown Favorite, with Bill Barton, and a work of nonfiction, KABUL24, with Ben Pearson. Lual, thank you for watching the interview. We had a good time chatting. I think this series takes a compelling look at these powerful biblical stories we know and puts them in a dramatic and entertaining context which I hope will deepen one’s faith or draw a seeker into the wonderful mystery of fellowship with God. Thank you for your interest in these novels. Book #4 comes out November 15, 2023.

This was very nice. He is a new to me author, but I love Biblical fiction!

    • Henry O. Arnold III

Thanks for watching the interview, Nyla. I think you might enjoy this series. So often when we know these great stories from the Bible we miss opportunities to imagine what might have been going on in between what was recorded. This was part of the joy I had in writing these novels. Again, thanks for watching the podcast.

    Thank you, Jeanette.
I learned very quickly to take Kay’s advice. I am a most fortunte man for her to have said “yes” to the invitation to spend a lifetime together. She is my first mate, first reader, and first love.
I hope you enjoy “The Song of Prophets and Kings.” And “The Hiding Place” will be in theatres in limited release August 3 & 5. It is a powerful story and is beautifully filmed.

Jeanette, thank you so much for adding to the conversation. Corrie Ten Boom and Abby Johnson are certainly influential women in so many ways. I’m glad they helped lead you to helping women in crisis pregancies choose life. What a wonderful ministry. I pray God will bless you as you move forward with the maternity home. I wish you the best in the giveaway! Thanks again for stopping by.

  • Jeanette Davis

Wow! What a resume. I love your comment about your family because I too have two beautiful daughters and two ‘above average’ grandchildren! This series, Song of Phophets and Kings, sounds wonderful as does Home Town Favorite. I love your wife’s advice and glad you took it (as you always should!) and look forward to this series coming in 2024…sounds like something else I would love to spend time with. Thank you for writing these as well as acting in the Hiding Place, I read that book as well as the Watchmaker’s Daughter by Larry Loftis, Corrie Ten Boom is a person who has inspired me along with Abby Johnson (Unplanned) to open a maternity home to help women choose life for their unborn children so they both hold a spot in my heart. Thank you for the opportunity to win your series…and for your interview with Deena.
