Keep Hope Alive
By Deena Adams
Are you struggling to keep hope alive in your heart with all the chaos in our world?
2020 has been one rough year, right?
Aside from the pandemic, shut downs, chaos in the streets, political firestorms, and natural disasters, I’ve had painful personal events that have added heavy weight to my already overloaded stress level.
Can you relate?
Why would God allow all that’s happening in our lives?
If we listen to our flesh, or what the world tells us, we might be tempted to believe God doesn’t care. We might lose hope and surrender to the whirlwind of emotion, allowing circumstances to trump what we know to be true about God.
I’m currently working through Lisa Terkeurst’s book and Bible study, “It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way.” She’s experienced some excruciating circumstances and learned many lessons about God’s goodness along the way.
I’ve been encouraged through her testimony to trust that God has a plan we can’t see or understand.
He loves us. He’s for us.
If you’re struggling today, I want to offer two Snippets of Hope to help keep hope alive in your heart. A scripture and a song you can cling to amid the enemy’s lies.
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33b
I pray this simple scripture and truth-filled song will encourage you today and fill you with new hope.
Join the conversation. Have you struggled with why God would allow all the chaos in our world? What has helped you stay focused on the truth of God’s love and sovereignty?
