Spotlight on Robin W. Pearson & a Giveaway
This week I’m excited to spotlight another of my debut novel endorsers, Robin W. Pearson. I had the joy of interviewing Robin for my blog twice. Once in a written Q&A and the second time via Zoom, so I feel like I know her and we’re good friends.
You can check out those interviews below.
2022 Interview about Walking in Tall Weeds
2024 Zoom Interview about Dysfunction Junction
I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Robin in person, but I hope to one day. She’s a down home Southern girl who loves Jesus, so I know we’d have a grand time hanging out together.
Another fact that made a huge impression on me is Robin’s love for her family and her commitment to homeschooling her seven children. I have such respect for her and all those who make that choice.
Plus, she writes deep Women’s Fiction with meaningful spiritual content, which are my favorite kind of stories to read!
Be sure to comment below by March 31 for a chance to win your choice of Robin’s novels in eBook format. (US only)
If you haven’t read any of her books yet, you really should! I’m sharing her published titles below, and you can click each book cover for the Amazon link.

A small-town bookstore owner finds herself at odds with a newcomer bent on disrupting her quiet life in this Southern women’s fiction novel by award-winning author Robin W. Pearson.
Glory Pryor has carved out a life for herself in Gilmore, North Carolina, cultivating a community around her bookstore, By the Book. While her business is a success, she carries the weight of stories of her own she’s never told anyone. She holds out hope that one day her estranged brother will turn up on her doorstep so she can finally learn where he’s been all these years. Glory’s husband Eli thinks she has her arms wrapped too tightly around the could-have-beens, and that it’s time for them to let go of the store as they head into their retirement years. Glory has different opinions on that—she’s not ready to give up the dream she’s built just yet. Then Adelle Simonette shows up with her young son, Bennett, and Glory’s carefully controlled life begins to crumble.
Newly widowed Adelle Simonette is a single mother trying to find her footing and navigate parenting her young son. Lost in her grief, one thing she’s certain of is that she needs to confront Glory Pryor and everybody who knows her because the woman’s been living a lie. Adelle thinks it’s high time Glory made things right. But Adelle’s finding it hard to tell the truth . . . and there will be no going back once she does.
In the wake of deeply personal grief and loss, two women reckon with a lifetime of silence and secrets to find a path forward toward healing, hope, and restoration.
When three women receive an unexpected phone call that leaves them reeling, they have no other choice but to reckon with a lifetime of memories they’ve long tried to bury. Only in facing the past will they find their path forward.
Frances Mae Livingston’s firm grip of her family’s destructive history makes her hold her husband and four children even closer. But she’s losing bits of herself while proving to everybody and her mama that she’s enough. There’s no way she’ll repeat her mama’s mistakes, even if it kills her.
Annabelle McMillan didn’t have trouble kicking the Eastern North Carolina dust off her feet. The tough part was replanting herself in familiar soil. Now she’s blending her old life with her new husband, stepson, and unborn child. And battling old memories of abandonment and new fears of rejection.
Dr. Charlotte Winters has built a career around helping others sort through their emotional baggage. She’s also spent a lifetime refusing to unpack her own. So what if Charlotte doesn’t recall all that her mama did to her and what her daddy didn’t do for her? Her only mission is to help others help themselves…until the women from her past and the man in her future undo her well-sewn life.
At the junction of healed and hurting, broken and whole, and past and present, three women wrestle with their inability to forgive and forget in this riveting Southern family drama about sisterhood from award-winning author Robin W. Pearson.

From award-winning author Robin W. Pearson comes a new Southern family drama about one family who discovers their history is only skin-deep and that God’s love is the only family tie that binds.
Paulette and Fred Baldwin find themselves wading through a new season of life in Hickory Grove, North Carolina. Their only son, McKinley, now works hundreds of miles away, and the distance between the husband and wife feels even farther. When their son returns home, his visit dredges up even more conflict between Fred and Paulette.
McKinley makes it no secret that he doesn’t intend to follow in his father’s footsteps at George & Company Fine Furnishings or otherwise. Fred can’t quite bring himself to accept all his son’s choices, yet Paulette is determined McKinley will want for nothing, least of all a mother’s love and attention—which her own skin color cost her as a child. But all her striving leaves Fred on the outside looking in.
Paulette suspects McKinley and Fred are hiding something that could change the whole family. Soon, she’s facing a whirlwind she never saw coming, and the three of them must dig deep to confront the truth. Maybe then they’ll discover that their history is only skin-deep while their faith can take them right to the heart of things.
When the man she loved years ago returns to town, one young woman’s complicated past rises again, threatening to expose her well-kept secrets.
If Maxine could put her finger on the moment when her life went into a tailspin, she would point back twenty years to the day her daddy died. She tells herself he’s the only person who ever really knew and loved her, and if he hadn’t left her behind, her future would’ve taken a different path. No absentee mother, no stepfather, no rebellious ripping and running during her teenage years. And no JD, who gave her wandering young heart a home, at least for a time.
But that’s over and done with. All grown-up now, Maxine has pledged her heart and ring finger to Theodore Charles, the man she’ll promise to love, honor, and obey in front of God and everybody. At least that’s what she’s telling anybody who will listen. The only folks buying it are the dog and the readers of her column, however.
Her best friend and family aren’t having it—not even Celeste, the double bass–playing thirteen-year-old the community of Mount Laurel, North Carolina, believes is Maxine’s adopted sister. And apparently, neither is the newly returned JD, who seems intent on toppling Maxine’s reconstructed life. As her wedding day marches ever closer, Maxine confronts what it means to be really known and loved by examining what’s buried in her own heart and exposing truth that has never seen the light of day.

“Pearson delivers a poignant debut that explores the faith of one African American family. . . . The writing is strong, and the story is engaging, and readers will be pleased to discover a new voice in Southern inspirational fiction.” —Booklist Christy Award winner!
To hear Beatrice Agnew tell it, she entered the world with her mouth tightly shut. Just because she finds out she’s dying doesn’t mean she can’t keep it that way. If any of her children have questions about their daddy and the choices she made after he abandoned them, they’d best take it up with Jesus. There’s no room in Granny B’s house for regrets or hand-holding. Or so she thinks.
Her granddaughter, Evelyn Lester, shows up on Beatrice’s doorstep anyway, burdened with her own secret baggage. Determined to help her Granny B mend fences with her far-flung brood, Evelyn turns her grandmother’s heart and home inside out. Evelyn’s meddling uncovers a tucked-away box of old letters, forcing the two women to wrestle with their past and present pain as they confront the truth Beatrice has worked a lifetime to hide.
I’m thrilled to have Robin’s endorsement for Stronger than the Storm. Here’s what she had to say:
“Stronger than the Storm is a beautiful story that shows what hurts, helps, and ultimately heals the heart of a family. Deena Adams uses a deft, yet gentle hand to communicate powerful truths through the lives of her fictional characters. Rich, compelling, and entertaining to boot. Readers won’t believe this is Adams’s debut. Well done!” — Robin W. Pearson, Christy-award winning author of A Long Time Comin’ and The Stories We Carry

Robin W. Pearson’s writing sprouts from her Southern roots, where she learned to sing “Jesus Loves Me,” how to make corn bread taste like pound cake, and the all-purpose uses of Vaseline. Her family’s faith, life lessons, and life’s longings inspired her to write about God’s love for us and how His love affects all our relationships.
This homeschooling mama of seven is the author of five novels, including the Christy Award–winner A Long Time Comin’, ‘Til I Want No More, Walking in Tall Weeds, Dysfunction Junction, and her latest, The Stories We Carry.
Most evenings, you’ll find Robin in her orange sweatshirt and polka-dot pajama bottoms, holding her laptop and her dog, Oscar. But you can visit Robin on her website or follow her on Instagram, BookBub, Goodreads, and Facebook.

I love Robin W. Pearson’s novels! I appreciate the fact that she’s also not afraid to dig deep into the “tough stuff” of family dynamics in her stories. She did a Zoom meeting with our book club and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. She seems to be very down to earth and fun to engage with!

I couldn’t agree with you more, Perrianne! Her heart for God and her family shines so brightly.
