Dulcie Dameron: Spotlight on “Now With You”

Please help me welcome Christian Contemporary Romance author Dulcie Dameron to the blog this week as she spotlights her latest novella, Now With You. She’s offered an ebook copy as a giveaway so be sure to comment on this post by July 12 for a chance to win.

I’m so happy to be sharing all about my latest book, Now with You, an inspirational reverse-age gap novella. I’ve wanted to write an age-gap love story for a long time, probably because there was a nine-year gap between my parents and there’s a four-year gap between my husband and me. It takes place in the sweet, fictional small town of River Hollow, where you’ll meet quirky characters with a lot of heart. The setting was lovingly inspired by my own small town in Ohio.

My character inspiration for Priscilla, the main character in the story, comes from my grandma and mom. My grandma is a true Kentucky southern belle, while my mom was the feisty auburn-haired beauty that still turned heads, even in her fifties. I would say Priscilla has qualities from both of their personalities.

And as far as Rex, our swoony male lead goes, he was one that has been brewing in me a long time. I once knew a sweet older gentleman from our church that took a special interest in my rebellious teenage self. He and his wife were a huge spiritual encouragement at the time, and you guessed it…his name was Rex! Since knowing him, I’ve always loved the name and tucked it away for future use.

In this story, the hardest character for me to write was probably Rex. Since I wasn’t writing anything in his POV, I needed to make sure he still came off the page as I intended him to. Sweet, strong, patient, and kind—with an alluring sizzle about him that kept the reader engaged. I hope I pulled that off!

Thanks, Deena, for allowing me to come on and talk about my latest book baby, Now with You! Stay tuned because there will be two more books in the Secrets of River Hollow Series this summer!

Thanks for sharing about your latest release, Dulcie! Congratulations! I pray God will bless you as you continue to write and publish stories to bring Him glory.

She isn’t ready to dance with someone new and awaken the memory of her dead husband, but when the script gets flipped, she has to do just that.

Facing the prospect of an empty nest, feisty widow Priscilla Clark determines to stay busy by turning her beloved, old Victorian into a one-of-a-kind bed and breakfast. But when circumstances beyond her control bring a halt to her new business idea, she’s forced to accept help from an unlikely source.

As Priscilla’s tough exterior starts to crack in the face of her daunting predicament, her quirky friend’s attractive younger brother, Rex, inserts himself into her life, wreaking havoc on her heart in the process. No matter what, she’s determined to ignore the sparks that ignite between them.

But when Priscilla goes toe to toe with Rex in a competition, she realizes more is at stake than simply losing. When their connection starts to sizzle, Priscilla wonders if it might be time to take another chance on love… if only it didn’t hurt so much to move on.
