Dulcie Dameron: Spotlight on “Now With You”

I’m so happy to be sharing all about my latest book, Now with You, an inspirational reverse-age gap novella. I’ve wanted to write an age-gap love story for a long time, probably because there was a nine-year gap between my parents and there’s a four-year gap between my husband and me. It takes place in the sweet, fictional small town of River Hollow, where you’ll meet quirky characters with a lot of heart. The setting was lovingly inspired by my own small town in Ohio. 

My character inspiration for Priscilla, the main character in the story, comes from my grandma and mom. My grandma is a true Kentucky southern belle, while my mom was the feisty auburn-haired beauty that still turned heads, even in her fifties. I would say Priscilla has qualities from both of their personalities.

And as far as Rex, our swoony male lead goes, he was one that has been brewing in me a long time. I once knew a sweet older gentleman from our church that took a special interest in my rebellious teenage self. He and his wife were a huge spiritual encouragement at the time, and you guessed it…his name was Rex! Since knowing him, I’ve always loved the name and tucked it away for future use. 

In this story, the hardest character for me to write was probably Rex. Since I wasn’t writing anything in his POV, I needed to make sure he still came off the page as I intended him to. Sweet, strong, patient, and kind—with an alluring sizzle about him that kept the reader engaged. I hope I pulled that off!

Dulcie is a thirty-something, Christian wife and mother, enjoying life in the Midwest with her family and dogs. She writes stories and characters that are quirky, fun, and full of faith. Christian Contemporary Romance is her jam and she enjoys being a member of the ACFW.
